Sr. Attorney Investigator

Aleta Law is looking to add a Senior Attorney Investigator to our team of investigations and resolutions specialists. This is a role for an experienced investigator or hearing officer comfortable leading investigations and/or adjudicating cases related to allegations of highly sensitive complaints of sexual misconduct, sexual assault, Title IX violations, discrimination, harassment, civil rights violations, and bullying.

Applicants must have 5 or more years of experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Independently conducting neutral investigations for higher education institutions and/or public or private K12 schools, including investigations related to complex Title IX, Title VI, civil rights, or other misconduct complaints;

  • Serving as a Title IX Hearing Officer/Decision Maker; and/or

  • Conducting neutral investigations of sexual misconduct, abuse, harassment and/or civil rights issues for organizations.

Applicants must also be excellent writers with an ability to thoroughly, neutrally, and clearly analyze and explain complex information. Excellent judgment in sensitive matters and a high degree of emotional intelligence are necessities. Our attorneys incorporate trauma-informed practices in their work and maintain the strictest standards of confidentiality. It is also critical for Aleta’s attorney investigators to treat all individuals engaged in the investigation processes with sensitivity and neutrality.

We are looking for attorneys with strong organizational skills, a natural curiosity, and an ability to work independently in a fast-paced, fully remote environment. The ideal candidate for this position is a team player, with a strong work ethic and the ability to work collaboratively with other attorneys and case managers. Applicants should be technologically proficient, with experience conducting investigations and/or hearings in a remote environment while also collaborating on day-to-day business via Zoom, Teams, and the firm’s document management and billing systems.

Applicants must hold a J.D. degree. A book of business is not required. This position reports to the Managing Directors and Senior Directors.

Occasional travel is required for investigations or hearings, team retreats, training and/or conferences. 

Salary range: $140,000–$180,000 base salary annually, with eligibility for performance-based bonus. Final compensation will be based on experience, background, skills, internal equity, and portable book of business.
